Oregon Fryer Commission Intern Scholarship

Poultry is America’s choice. Every year, poultry gains in popularity as a preferred meat. Poultry products like chicken, turkey, duck and eggs make the industry a $20 billion-plus business. The Oregon Fryer Commission, its growers, and industry professionals want to share their passion for poultry by encouraging today’s youth to join an industry that can be very rewarding, both financially and personally. The Oregon Fryer Commission has established Scholarships to help encourage and nurture careers in the poultry industry available to students seeking an Animal Science degree.

You could qualify
A $1500 maximum award per academic year will be made available per incoming Freshman. A $3000 maximum award per academic year will be made available for sophomore, junior, senior, and graduate level students continuing at Oregon State University. Any and all decisions concerning all scholarship awards are that of the Oregon Fryer Commission.

Criteria
Awards are made on the basis of your current and future interest in the poultry industry, involvement with student poultry activities, scholastic achievement and financial need. Awards are renewable annually upon review.

Eligibility

  • High school graduating seniors, undergraduate, and graduate students are eligible.
  • Funds will be made available to full-time students enrolling at Oregon State University.
  • Animal Science majors with a Poultry option or Animal Sciences minors taking at least 16 credits of poultry classes.
  • A minimum requirement of 3.0 GPA for high school applicant and 2.5 GPA for college applicants. Student transcripts are required during the application process.

Deadline
Applications must be received in the Oregon Fryer Commission office no later than Friday, April 4, 2008. Scholarship applications will be reviewed by a committee. The information you provide will be the basis for determining the awards. Public announcement of the award will be made during the OSU Animal Sciences Awards and Recognition Program held Friday, April 25, 2008. Scholarship recipients as well as all other applicants will receive notification by mail following the announcement of the awards.
